Politics According to Tien

Usually I try to stay away from politics, not that I'm not interested in what's going on, but because I don't like to argue just to get my opinion heard. However, I have been compelled by some friends of mine that firmly believe that Obama will be the right choice to elect as the next United States President.

I don't really consider myself Democratic or Republican, though I am registered with the Republican party, but I am concerned for my country. I am concerned for my brothers and sisters, and really for my own soul. The question that hit me hard yesterday as a friend made a firm statement about Obama's greatness was this: If Jesus ran for President, would I vote for Him? What would His platform look like? What would His policies on gay rights be? How about on abortion or welfare? What about social security?

Honestly, there is that part of me that says, Jesus is not good for the American people. The way His righteousness shines, it makes people wanting to live in the dark, a little uncomfortable. Yet God has said something, " 'As for Me, I have installed My King upon Zion, My holy mountain.' " (Psalm 2:6) His glory will cover the earth, as the waters cover the seas. What does that look like for America? I'm not sure, but I no it's not what any candidate can bring to the table.

I think we can start by having a government that promotes the equality of all people, regardless of race, gender, or economic class (not-so-subtle plug for the donkey in this year's election). Heehee...I actually just clicked to say hi. Hope you're doing well.
